Account & security
Account in the sidebar covers your own dashboard sign-in and your workspace's settings. It is separate from your end-users, who never sign in to the dashboard.
The page has six sections, linked from the left: Profile, Password, Two-step sign-in, Workspace, Sign-in methods and Danger zone.
Profile
- Your email address and Member since date.
- Email: the address you sign in with and where poolse sends account emails. It can't be changed in the dashboard; email [email protected] if you need to.
- Signs in with: the methods on your account, for example "Email and password, Google".
Password
If you have a password, change it here: enter your current password, the new one (at least 8 characters) and the new one again, then save.
If you signed up with Google or GitHub, there is no password to change, and you can't add one.
Forgot your password?
- On the sign-in page, click Forgot password?.
- Enter your email and click Send reset link. If the address has an account, a link arrives by email. It is valid for 1 hour.
- Open the link, enter a new password (at least 8 characters) twice, and save.
Resetting your password signs you out everywhere. Sign in again with the new password; two-step sign-in, if on, still applies.
Two-step sign-in
After your password, poolse asks for something only you have. Add at least two methods so losing one never locks you out. The pill next to the heading shows On once any method is set up.
| Method | How it works |
|---|---|
| Passkeys | Face ID or Touch ID, Windows Hello, Android, or a security key. Click Add a passkey and give it a name. A passkey also lets you sign in without a password (Sign in with a passkey on the sign-in page). |
| Authenticator app | A 6-digit code from an app such as Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy or the iPhone Passwords app. Click Set up, scan the QR code (or type the key), and enter a code to confirm. You can add more than one app. |
| Email codes | A 6-digit code sent to your account email, valid for 10 minutes. Click Turn on. Handy as a backup; a passkey or app is stronger. |
| Recovery codes | 10 one-time codes for when no other method is at hand. |
Recovery codes are shown once, when you set up your first method. Save them in your password manager. The section shows how many are left ("N of 10 left"); Generate new codes replaces the whole set.
Removing a passkey or app, turning off email codes, and generating new recovery codes all ask for your password first (or just a confirmation, if your account has no password).
When you sign in with two-step on, you choose one of your methods: passkey, authenticator code, email code or recovery code. A sign-in attempt is valid for 10 minutes and allows 5 wrong codes.
Two-step sign-in also applies when you sign in with Google or GitHub. After Continue with Google or Continue with GitHub, an account with two-step on comes back to the sign-in page and is asked for one of its methods before it is signed in. Sign in with a passkey counts as both steps on its own.
Workspace
Settings for your workspace (the tenant in the API).
| Row | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Name | Editable, up to 255 characters. Shown in the dashboard sidebar and used in emails we send you. Changing it doesn't affect the API or your users. Click Save changes. |
| Workspace ID | The workspace's UUID, with a Copy button. Quote it when you contact support. The API calls it tenant_id. |
| Status | Active, or Suspended while the workspace is suspended (the red banner shows then too); see Billing. |
| Created | When the workspace was created. |
| Encryption | Message bodies are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM under a per-workspace key. See Encryption & retention. |
Sign-in methods
Lists Email and password (In use or Not set), Google and GitHub (Connected or Not connected).
You can't link or unlink a provider from the dashboard. To change a connected account, email [email protected].
If you try to sign in with Google or GitHub using an email that already has a password account, the sign-in is refused. Sign in with your password instead.
Danger zone
Delete account… permanently deletes your workspace and your sign-in. See Danger zone.
