Danger zone

The Danger zone deletes your workspace and your dashboard sign-in. It cannot be undone.

What gets deleted

  • The workspace and everything in it: end-users, conversations, memberships, messages, reactions, attachments (database rows and the files in storage, including the files poolse wrote to your own bucket if you connected one), call records, devices, push credentials, settings, API keys, webhooks and their delivery history, and the audit log.
  • The workspace's encryption key, so nothing can decrypt its message bodies any more.
  • Your dashboard sign-in: your account, its sessions, linked Google or GitHub accounts, and your two-step methods (passkeys, authenticator apps, recovery codes).
  • Your plan, if you have a paid one. It ends at once, with no refund.
  • The organisation, when this was its last workspace.

Your end-users' apps stop working for chat: their tokens are refused, and your API keys stop working.

How to delete

  1. Go to Account → Danger zone and click Delete account….
  2. The Delete account page lists what you will lose: the number of conversations and messages, attachments and their size, end-users, active API keys and webhooks, your sign-in email, and your paid plan if you have one.
  3. Click Send confirmation code. A 6-digit code goes to your sign-in email. It is valid for 15 minutes. You can ask for a new one after 30 seconds (Resend code); a new code replaces the old one. At most 5 codes can be sent per 15 minutes.
  4. Enter the code in the six boxes (pasting the whole code works) and click I understand, delete everything. After 5 wrong tries the code stops working; click Resend code for a new one.
  5. You are signed out and land on the sign-in page with the message "Your workspace has been deleted."

If the workspace can't be deleted, you see "Could not delete the workspace. Please contact support." and nothing is removed, so you can try again.

How long it takes

The deletion runs while you wait. Attachment files are removed from storage one by one first, in your own bucket too if you connected one; a file that fails to delete is logged and the deletion carries on. Then the workspace and everything in it is removed from the database in one step, and finally your sign-in.

Signing up again

You can sign up again with the same email. You get a new, empty workspace with a new id. Nothing from the deleted workspace comes back, and poolse can't restore it for you.

Suspended is not deleted

A suspended workspace keeps all its data; a suspension can be lifted. If your workspace is suspended, don't delete it: use Contact us on Plan & usage.
